The British & Irish Lions - Lions Rugby Travel

The 2013 British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia is one of the greatest events in the global sporting calendar.

This year, for the first time ever the most famous touring team in the world had its own dedicated travel company that would provide unique access to The Lions, their history and Australia.

With more than 50,000 supporters expected to travel to both Hong Kong and Australia during the Tour, Lions Rugby Travel - the official travel arm of The Lions - created a vast array of travel packages to suit the varying requirements and budgets of its clients.

Central to this complex business was the need to develop and create a structured marketing plan and roll-out that began in 2009 and led right up to the Tour itself.

Working as an integral part of the Lions marketing team, we built a solid set of guidelines that would encompass both the Lions brand and that of several global sponsors, and set about creating a visually eye-catching awareness campaign for the Tour, that would run in both print and on-line advertising, in the national press and all the major rugby publications.

This campaign was then supported with a consistent set of messages and distinctive creative style across the website, web marketing, Tour brochures and as the Tour date grew closer, an entire suite of collateral for each event and travel option to support sales and enhance this once in a lifetime experience for the supporters.

Following the huge success of the Tour, both on and off the field, plans are already being made for the next British & Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand in 2017.
